Meet Josh aka Gubes

Gubes tells some very interesting stories, perhaps the most interesting story he tells is about how he ended up here at Barley’s: Long ago, after a turftoe injury ended his semi-professional lacrosse career, he became a professional rodeo clown. That’s where he met a young cowboy by the name of Matt Johnson. He was a very dedicated man who had dreams of one day owning a restaurant. And by the grace of all things good: that dream came true. And Gubes has been riding Matt’s coattails ever since.

In case you can’t tell: none of that was true (at least… we think). But what is true is that Gubes is an OG at Barley’s, and we’re darn happy to have him.

What Gubes loves is the friendships he’s made at Barley’s. If you ask him, he’ll tell you he met his 3rd, 4th, and 6th wives here.

You can usually find Gubes jamming to 89.7 the River and daydreaming about becoming a dirt track race car driver (because if you ain’t first, you’re last).

Fair enough to say: Gubes is quite the character and quite the cook.
