After cutting our teeth in the bar business for 2 years with Repetitions at 28th and West Broadway in Council Bluffs, we started as a small, intimate bar in July of 2001 in the Historic 100 Block of Council Bluffs at 114 West Broadway. Realizing that people can get a beer and a burger anywhere, Barley's strives to become your favorite place to enjoy them. With the concept of being a civic and neighborhood minded 'bar' that served food just above the rest, Barley's has successfully parlayed this into the meeting point for many reunions, community meetings, rehearsal dinners, funeral receptions and countless other parties through the years. In 2006, after purchasing and remodeling the building next door at 112 West Broadway, we added a non-smoking side (before the smoking ban). With the addition of more space, our business grew immensely. We have been lucky and proud to watch this block grow into a vibrant entertainment district. Currently, there are six other bars on our block which allows everyone to find something they like. In the summer of 2008, after leasing the location of our sister bar (MJ's Pizza), the opportunity arose to open another Barley's in the historic Tip Top Building at 15th and Cuming. While this will be a very challenging area until the neighborhood develops and we grow into our gigantic space, Barley's looks forward to the opportunity. North Downtown will develop into the most unique neighborhood in Omaha. Anchored by the Qwest Center Omaha and the new downtown stadium, along with great neighbors such as the Tip Top Downtown Ballroom, the Old Mattress Factory Bar and Grill, The Slowdown and Film Streams, we are sure you will enjoy your experience in North Downtown. We are not pretentious or fancy. Just Barley's. Check us out!
